Uganda : CAR Soldiers To Get Training

For six months, the young soldiers will be skilled on intelligence gathering and combatting of terrorists’ threat.

The Central African Republic is poised to give its armed forces a new facelift with the recruitment and training of soldiers in Kampala by the Ugandan Army. On Thursday, September 4, 2025 a group of new recruits departed from Bangui’s Mpoko Airport for the Ugandan capital, Kampala for training. For six months the soldiers will focus their training on intelligence gathering and countering rebel threats. The training is one of the fallouts of bilateral military agreement signed in October 2024 between Uganda and CAR.
The recruits, drawn from all seven regions of the country, will also be trained to avoid the sectarian divisions and ideological issues that affected previous national armies. With decades of experience in counter-rebellion operations, Uganda has previously trained forces from South Sudan and Somalia. After multiple political and security crises that weakened the Central African Army, the General Staff of FACA has resolved to rebuild its forces with support from Uganda, while still depending on Russian assistance. “Training slots have been provided by this brotherly nation to help train 1,800 young Central Africans as second-class soldiers,” said Oscar Yannick Bada, head of the army’s training office.
