Regional Elections : ELECAM Commences Preparation

The first session as of right of the Electoral Board with regards to the November 30 polls held yesterday September 8, 2025.


Following the convening of the electoral colleges for the election of regional councillors, members of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) met in the first session as of right, in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Code to prepare for and aptly organise the election. The session presided at by the Chairperson of the Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe on September 8, 2025 had principally three points on the agenda. Firstly, examining the status of the electoral colleges and the electoral lists, as well as the election’s budget for the activities of the Electoral Board. Then the examination and adoption of a harmonised calendar for the activities of the Electoral Board and the Directorate General of Elections relating to the Presidential election on October 12 and that of regional elections on November 30, 2025. Special assignments of sub-committees for final adjustments of activities in view of the eight national consultation forum with other stakeholders of the electoral process, scheduled for September 11, 2025 also came under discussions. 
In his opening statement, Enow Abrams Egbe said the election of regional councillors is taking place at a pivotal moment in the electoral history of Cameroon as it is the first time to organise the election within another election. “This cannot be overstated as we must navigate through the Presidential and regional election calendars simultaneously. This is a new challenge, but I believe that if we continue to work together as we have always done, we can overcome it,” he said.
